Student Supports 

  • A tiered level of support is provided for students in all tiers:
    • Tier 1: Core
    • Tier 2: Supplemental
    • Tier 3: Intensive in all areas: academic, social, attendance, behavior.
  • All classrooms are outfitted with calming corners for emotional regulation and support
  • Morning Meeting occurs daily in all classrooms
  • Each staff member is designated as a "Champion" for a set of students from their House. Champions meet with their students regularly to check in on their progress, encourage them, and support their growth throughout the year using Student Data Notebooks for check ins.

Points of Pride

  • School House System (our four House system is a core part of our PBIS structure. It builds school community, encourages positive choices, and brings healthy competition in the best way. Students and staff are sorted and placed in one of our 4 Houses when they first join the Joyner team and that is their House assignment for the entire time they are with us. Students engage in service-learning opportunities with their Houses, attend bi-weekly House meetings, and engage in friendly competition during monthly Pep Rallies)
  • Joyner Exceeded growth for the 2024-2025 school year and Met Growth for the 2025-2026 school year. Joyner is no longer classified as low performing and has a designation of a letter grade C.

All GCS families and future families are invited to explore our amazing schools during School Discovery Month.  Visit, ask questions, meet our staff, and see all the opportunities GCS has to offer in your attendance zone, as well as our Choice schools and programs.
